BCBS: New Standard SBC Tool for 1-150 Life Groups

Today (Mar 24), BCBS will make their new online standard Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) tool available. The tool will enable external users to yield quicker and more successful standard SBC search results. Brokers and employers can access the tool at the following address using these login credentials.

Website https://ben-sum-mgr.rrd.com/secure/login/?custName=HCSC
Customer Name HCSC
Username HCSCgenID
Password BlueSBC2017!

The SBC tool is hosted by a third party vendor. Brokers and employers can login directly without first logging into Blue Access for Producers (BAP) or Blue Access for Employers (BAE). Links to the system are available in both BAP and BAE.

  • For BAP, click Products & Forms on the left, click on the Summary of Benefits and Coverage link on the right, and then select View Standard Plan SBC Tool link.
  • For BAE, click the Account Summary link, click on the Summary of Benefits and Coverage link on the right, and then select the View Standard Plan SBC Tool link.

Use the following process to create SBCs. Read the updated instruction guide for more details.

  1. Select Document Type. Use Group – Group 2016-2017 Q1 for open enrollments prior to Apr 1, 2017. Use Group – Group 2017 New for open enrollments on/after Apr 1, 2017. Federal regulations require SBCs applicable on/after Apr 1, 2017 to use the new SBC template.
  2. Select the appropriate Plan Year and Corporate Entity. Both fields are required. Click the Search button.
  3. Narrow search results as necessary by entering values in Product Type, Plan ID, Plan Name, and/or Language fields.
  4. Select a SBC by clicking on its Product Type then the Next Step button.
  5. Enter the Coverage Effective Date & Coverage Ending Date in the MM/DD/YYYY format. (For Spanish documents, use the DD/MM/YYYY format.)
  6. Click Coverage For and select appropriate value.
  7. Click Generate Summary.
  8. Proof your SBC and click Generate Final Copy.
  9. Save the SBC and/or email to a recipient by entering an email address and clicking Send.

Other upcoming standard SBC updates will be shared in News from the Blues.
