Memorial Hermann Updates – Reinstatements & Auto-Renewals

Memorial Hermann Health Plan announced a few updates to their procedures for existing clients.

1. Policy Reinstatements – If a group’s policy terminates for non-payment, Memorial Hermann will reinstate the policy once per plan year subject to the following guidelines.

  • Reinstatement request must be submitted within 30 days of termination.
  • Client must pay past due and current premiums in full.
  • Client must be setup for ACH premium bank drafts.
  • Available to groups after their 2017 renewal date.
  • Both the client and broker sign a Reinstatement Acknowledgement form.

2. Automatic (Passive) Renewals – Applies to small groups renewing on/after Feb 2017 and large groups renewing on/after Apr 2017. If no action is taken, each group will be automatically mapped to the 2017 portfolio plans identified in the renewal package as the most comparable to current plans. Small groups requesting a plan change must submit a completed Acceptance Agreement no later than the 20th of the month prior to the renewal date. We strong recommend submitting the agreement by the 10th of the month to minimize processing delays.
